Welcome to Tulchan Dahlias

About imageAbout imageAbout image
After having grown and shown Dahlias at national level for many years I formed Tulchan Dahlias.
Why Tulchan, it is an unusual name.
Besides having this addiction to Growing Dahlias. I have been an avid Fly fisherman for as long. Tulchan is a Sporting estate on the River Spey in Scotland.
I was fortunate to catch my First Salmon, fly fishing many years ago on Tulchan D beat.
The first Salmon is one that you never forget.
The pool name was the Stream of Craggenmore, a streamy piece of water pouring into a round holding pool. Its located directly below Craggenmore Distillery one of the famous Speyside Malts.
It was an overcast but dry day, 12th July 1983. A Tuesday Morning, time was 9:50 am. The fly was a Silver Stoats Tail on a size 12 Esmond Durry chromed hook. All alone I was trembling as I stood in the edge of the stream for fear of losing the fish. I had lost others at the net. 5 minutes later I beached a slightly red male Salmon of 8lbs. To celebrate I just had to get myself a wee dram to steady myself and record the accomplishment in the Fishing log.
As I had mentioned something one doesn’t forget.
So that is why I chose Tulchan to prefix the Dahlias that I have hybridised and RHS registered. There will hopefully be more in coming years.
Maybe they will be something you do not forget.

Minimum Order quantitys

What can I expect with my Pot tuber order

All home grown tuber sales are pot grown. Some variety's will ignore the fact that they are being grown in a Pot and will smash out of that pot during the growing season. In short they are small nuggets ready to break into growth with the occasional large legged tuber.

How will I know that the tuber is Viable

All of our pot tubers are grown in Sterile media and sterile conditions for the entire year to ensure that Gall is not an issue at point of sale. The plants during the growing season are fully protected from invasions of pests which could carry viruses. In short we do not tolerate any form of Disease and go to great pains to ensure that the quality we generate is 100% viable.  When they arrive with you please unpackage and keep frost free.
