Nulands Josephine a large pompon dahlia. One of the finest examples of this classification and never seems to fail me. The jurys out on how this came about. I believe it was born in Milnethorpe Cumbria in about 2004 under the watchful eye of Jack Gott. Jack named the flower which is registered to Rinus van Nuland after Rinus’s wife Josephine. It was later hijacked by Dutch growers who thought the name was too long and renamed the variety as Burlesca. I like the story, as I like the flower, and I’m sticking with the Original name. Red and Amber blends similar to Rhubarb and Custard in colour.
